These machines have been around for decades. They are used here in our plantation forests of Radiarta Pine which is now classed as a weed. The machine is attached to an excavator and the operator cuts and sorts the trees into sizes. It's efficient and managed well the wastes are recycled as garden mulch. The fuel used by an excavator is less than dozens of chain saws. The trees are replanted in rows neatly ready to be harvested again in ten or so years. It's a farm and a business that employs the towns mills and factories that make treated pine for landscaping and weather proof external timber structures. Timber is renewable you're probably sitting on a chair or you own some that are made from it right now. Been to IKEA, guess how they get the wood.
